Motherhood is one of life’s biggest transitions, and BayCare support groups are designed to help new and expecting moms feel supported. Whether they are navigating the physical changes of pregnancy, getting used to life with a baby, or building confidence in their new role, these groups bring mothers together in a judgment-free environment where sharing experiences and building friendships are encouraged.
In January 2026, the Turbo Babies team visited two BayCare Supporting Motherhood and More groups, spending time with 30 new moms. They learned how simple moments, like talking during feeding, reading together, singing, and playing, can support their baby’s brain development from birth. Each mom also signed up for the “Pit Crew” to receive newsletters, community event information, and blog updates—and to receive yearly birthday gifts for their baby up to age three! The babies we met were so cute and fun! The moms laughed, cried, and shared their highs and lows with the group. Their stories were inspiring to the Turbo Team.

What makes these groups especially helpful is they include lactation consultant services and breastfeeding support, without the need for an additional appointment! A trained lactation specialist is present during many group sessions to answer questions, offer tips, and help moms feel more confident in their feeding journey. This kind of hands-on guidance — combined with camaraderie from other mothers — can make a real difference in how they feel. Beyond expert support, these gatherings are simply a place for moms to meet others who “get it.” Sharing stories about feeding, schedules, self-care, navigating expectations, and everyday life creates a sense of community that many new moms say is just as valuable as the information they gain.

Programs like BayCare’s Supporting Motherhood and More are possible thanks to funding and support from the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County (JWB). JWB invests in programs that strengthen families, promote healthy child development, and ensure parents have access to trusted resources during critical early years. This funding allows BayCare to offer welcoming, no-cost opportunities for moms to connect with one another. They also receive professional, caring guidance to build supportive networks that benefit both parents and children long-term. Whether you’re expecting your first child or have a baby under one year old, motherhood groups are a welcoming way to build friendships, gain practical support, and strengthen your confidence as a mom. And with Turbo Babies resources offered in both English and Spanish, you’ll find support that meets you—and your little bundle of joy–where you are.
