The Power of Play

At birth, your baby’s brain is a quarter of the size of an adult’s. Incredibly, it doubles in size the first year and grows to 80% of an adult’s brain by age three. During this time, more than one million new neural connections form each second in your baby’s brain. At no other time in a person’s life does the brain grow so rapidly and experience so many changes.

As a pediatrician for more than 20 years, I know just how important the first 1,000 days are for baby’s healthy development. That’s why Evara Health teamed up with the Juvenile Welfare Board on the Turbo Babies campaign. It offers fun facts, tips, and activities to fuel your baby’s drive to learn and keep their development on track. Plus, if you sign-up to join the “Pit Crew”, we’ll send you free gifts on your baby’s birthdays through age three.

Turbo Babies is all about the POWER OF PLAY with four supercharged Turbo Tips anyone can do anywhere with babies:

TUNE IN Listen and pay attention to how your baby communicates with coos, sounds, smiles, and gestures – and eventually words.

TALK & REPEAT Use a variety of words and repeat as babies learn through repetition; describe the world around you, sing songs, or read books to baby.

TAKE TURNS Have a conversation with your baby by pausing after you speak or act to allow time for your baby to respond with sounds, gestures, or words.

TAKE TIME Connect with your baby during daily routines and everyday moments like mealtime, bath time, grocery shopping, even diaper changes!

Even a simple game of peek-a-boo teaches baby by tuning in, talking, and repeating, taking turns, and taking time for play. This is how babies learn, develop, and grow.
